Today our tutor, Kenny gave the class an example of how you can land yourself in big trouble just by downloading music. David Hay a 14-year old schoolboy is being charged £510 for illegally downloading just one song from the internet.
I then went onto the Internet and searched for movie and music download sites. I found soul seek for music and Download Master for movies. These sites let you download for free but if you do this you are breaking copyrite laws.

Today we had a visit from a tutor by the name of Craig Green, he gave a talk on Proxy server. we then entered the web address. en//wikipedia.org/wiki/proxy server.
The information found is as follows
Proxy Server=( A computor system or an Application Programe) that services the request of its clients by forwarding to other servers.
A server that passes all requests and replies unmodified is usually called a gateway or sometimes tunnelling proxy.
Caching Proxy Server= accelerates service requests by retrieving content saved from a
previous requests made by the client or other clients.
Web Proxy=Focuses on www traffic. The most common use of a web proxy is to serve as a Web Cache. Most proxy programes(eg Squid) act as a means to deny access to certain U.R.Ls in a blacklist, thus providing content filtering.
A Content filtering= provides administrative control over content that may be relayed through the Proxy commonly used in commercial and non commercial organizations(especially schools) to ensure that usage conforn to acceptable use policy.

Phishing filter

Today I recieved a pop up message from Microsoft phishing filter. Phishing is designed to warn you that the website you are visiting might be impersonating another web site. This can also happen through emails and is called spoof emails. It gave me the choice of turning on the automatic phishing filter or not. I was also informed that none of my personal information would be exposed.
I decided to click ok, and then carried on as normal.

Today we were asked to look in to the Internet to check on various anti_spyware brands. I used google and read up on three different brands.
